of hatchlings and houses!
I. well, what have we here?
There was a bit of a slow spot, sure- we're still getting settled in, what can we say?- but now that things are calming down irl it's time to move on into the next stage. Remember the Houses you were sorted into? Remember those nifty little eggs you grabbed in the last event? Well, it's time to find out what those were for! If you're just now joining us, no need to fret, as there's a second half to the event you can take part in too.
Also, since this is partly a celebration of the recently released movie, keep an eye on the Dragon List, as it will be updated to include some cool new dragon species in the near future~
Ii. the hatchlings
You've been taking good care of your dragon eggs, right? These aren't terribly rare dragons, sure, they aren't terribly needy, so they're probably fine. Hopefully. The thing is, this particular batch of eggs is ready for hatching! There's no telling when exactly they'll blow- literally, in some cases, as a few species are known for having eggs that explode- but all over campus, the little babies are coming into the world one by one.
All you have to do to participate is post a thread- in the dragon pens would be ideal, but hey, if your egg explodes at two in the morning in your dorm room that's your problem- and put Hatching somewhere in the title. You can post a link here, or tag a staff in the thread (using @'admin or @'Dew) and we'll be right over to give you the stats of your brand new baby dragon~
Keep in mind that they won't be able to be ridden yet, as they're just little, but they'll be all yours to use in classes and other threads. Take good care of them (and remember, they're not quite housetrained yet, so, ah, good luck).
Iii. the houses
Now that that's through, on to the main event! Seeing as we're dealing with a new wave of freshmen, there isn't going to be a full house cup, but there is going to be a round of tournaments opening up for these fledgling dragon masters to prove their worth- and, naturally, score some house points in the process!
For now, there will be three separate tournaments students can participate in: Terror Racing, Terror Obedience, and Terror Sparring. Each student may enter each category only once, but are encouraged to enter all three! Just post here with which competitions you're interested in, and brackets and threads will be made shortly. (Note: Obedience does not follow the normal competition rules, as it is a statless event. More information will be given out at the start of the contest.)
Also, to sweeten the deal, those who place in the upper half will have the opportunity to test out of classes and graduate to the Intermediate rank, which is where your first large dragon is earned. So study hard and attend some classes, as your House's honor- as well as gold- is on the line!
Competitions may contain four to six students. They will begin once the minimum number is reached, although more rounds will be started if enough interest is shown.
