PARDON ME BUT YOU SAID THAT YOU'D ALWAYS LOVE ME

THE sound of pouring rain could be heard from outside Edna's dorm room window, a soothing rhythm that put her and Hamona to sleep in an instant. It had been at least a full three days since she came to DDA, and so far, she did not regret her decision. Upon coming here, she received a dragon egg as welcoming gift. What brought her joy from this offering was that inside this egg was a Timberjack, a forest dwelling dragon that was worshipped by the people of her caravan. As the young female slept peacefully with her Terrible Terror curled up against her side, the egg that was kept from harm began to wobble ever so slowly.Hamona slowly fluttered her large eyes open, sensing a disturbance in the air. Turning her gaze to the egg, she stood upright, nudging at her human companion in hopes of waking her. A groan left Edna's throat, poking one eye open tiredly. "What is it, Hamona...? It's late..." she mumbled, only for Hamona to motion her head towards the wobbling egg. Edna soon grew wide eyed at the sight, sitting up straight and rushing to the egg as she held it gently in her arms. She didn't know what to do, she realized. She had heard of how dragon eggs would literally explode upon hatching, but she knew not of a safe place for it to occur. As she looked out the window, an idea formed in her head. The Dragon Pen! That's it, she thought. However, she knew better than to sneak out in the middle of the night, and into the cold rain. But this was a rule that she had to break. Opening her window, she looked down to see how high up above ground she was.
Luckily, it was merely a few inches, since she lived on the first floor. Grabbing her robe, she covered the egg and began climbing out, with Hamona not far behind. Edna then ran as quickly as she could towards the Dragon's Pen through the cold pouring rain, panting heavily as Hamona managed to climb onto her shoulders to avoid running. The egg began to move faster in her arms once she reached the pen, closing the large wooden door behind her. Desperate, Edna darted her gaze to find a safe and secure spot for it to hatch, and sure enough, she found one. Uncovering the egg, she set it down on on a pile of loose hay, backing away slowly as it shook faster and faster. Biting her lip and soaked to the bone, Edna hid behind a wooden pillar for safety precautions, poking her headout slowly to watch the hatching take place.
