She loves to take challenges, from anyone, even if she knows she can't win and simply won't back down when she knows the battle is pointless and could ultimately lead to her very death. She isn't a soft girl that would screech or swoon at the very sight of mud, and isn't scared to get her hands dirty. Be it mud, or breaking the rules. Trying to tell her off will only get you into a cursing match, and trying to fight her will only result in her being sent to the infirmary thanks to her small size or in both sides getting black eyes and maybe a broken bone on her part. Calling her frail will result in such a fight. Insulting her intelligence will also result in a fight or a yelling match. Going away from the simple things about her, she is a rather caring person, just hidden behind a hard outer shell that simply exist to protect herself from a repeat of when she was back home. On the inside, she is soft and weak with her emotions, making her easy to trick and deceive, thus why she acts so hard-headed. She finds that her inner weirdness makes it hard for her to get along with others and that most everyone doesn't want to know who she really is and finds her oddness to be, well, odd. Repeats of having people leave her in the dust when she finally opens up left her hard in her heart and cold in her feelings, even if doing so may hurt her if she really does like someone as a friend or family member. She does enjoy doing odd things that some might consider very weird, like how she is allergic to salmon but she loves the look of them and even fishes for them so she can admire their scales. Sometimes she even talks to the fish, which puts many people off. Otherwise, on the outside, she is your normal, basic, hard-headed, hot-headed, challenge loving teenage student that wants to show off and outdo everyone in her class. History Born into a family of dragon caretakers and hunters, Aldis has been said to have a knack for the beast, thanks to her blood line. Her father was the leader of her family, and worked with the leader of their village before she moved away. Her mother worked with the dragons in the village and helped to care for them. They tried to get her to go with her mother's job, but caring for dragons young and old never was what she was interested in, even as a young child. Her parents both taught her the basics, however, of their village dragons and how they did things. You could call it a rough education from her parents. By the time she was ten, she was helping polish saddles and helping to hook dragons up. Her father thought she would one day be ready to ride with them, but then an accident happened. When she was unsaddling a dragon on her own, one of the others got agitated, a Nightmare. The dragon had been agitated when they were out, and attacked out of its frustration. It didn't mean to really hurt Aldis, but it managed to get her into its mouth, those sharp teeth digging into her stomach, back and hips. The teeth raked along her flesh, and by the time help arrived, the dragon had dropped her and had started to attack the help. Once the dragon was calmed down, she was taken to the medic. Ever since, her parents kept her away from dragons, until the day she got accepted into an academy to learn more about the very dragons her family loved and worked with. She argued with them for over a month before she talked them into letting her go. She packed her bags and sent in the forms, and awaited to be officially accepted into the school. She was a long way from her home, and was feeling the pressure of being so far, but this was a new chapter in her life and she was determined to show that one accident that was her own fault was not going to keep her away from her dream of mastering the art of the dragons like her family. She refused to be a disgrace, like she was back home. |
