sveinn strolfson twenty-eight male 5'9" % 130lbs demisexual teacher, master trainer n/a monoknapper | personality Sveinn is not known for his kindness. In fact, he tries to be anything but kind. He is aggressive. This much is obvious by the glare on his face and harsh words that leave his mouth. He has hardened his heart throughout the years, leaving very little room for anyone to enter. Anyone but his dragons, that is. His dragons are accustomed to his temper. They enjoy it, even, preferring to his way of handling things over the mushy love fest a lot of people give their dragons. There are times when he will show kindness to his lovely scale-covered companions, but, as long as there are others around, he never shows it.Sveinn is also very aloof, choosing to instantly distrust anyone he meets over trying to get to know them. Even those he teachers are forced to deal with his attitude that is meant to push others away. This isn't to say he tries to make his classes ones that everyone despises. Oh, no. He just tries to get everyone to know their place in the food chain of the academy. It takes a lot to get him to warm up to anyone, yet any smiles he gives will rarely be true smiles. Smiles of approval are almost as rare as smiles of happiness, and a smile of approval usually means that he is impressed with a student in one of his classes. Now, when someone can somehow get into his heart, Sveinn becomes very, very territorial over them. If he actually likes them, then he instantly believes that they are his and no one else's. He is possessive over them, going as far as to scare off, whether directly or indirectly, anyone who he believes is a threat. Now, he cannot simply flaunt around his power as a Master in order to do this (even if it sometimes helps). He usually uses his own intimidation methods to do so. Those methods are unknown to pretty much everyone but himself. Sveinn is also very stubborn, and, once he sets his mind on something, there is no going back. If his bright idea is to jump into a canyon, he has to be held back in order to not go through with it. Sveinn absolutely hates the daylight. He tries to have all of his classes as close to nighttime as he possibly can, though not even that will always happen. His hatred of sunlight stems from his albinism, though he finds the light to be a nuisance in general, giving him horrible headaches that only fuel his easily aggravated mood. He tries to keep out of the sun as much as possible, going as far as to sleep during the day so he can be up at night. However, he can be considered an insomniac, but only partially. He cannot find himself sleeping at night for his mind is too restless. It is sometimes easier to sleep during the day, but he rarely gets more than three hours of sleep in a twenty-four hour period. If anything, he is part-insomniac-part-nocturnal. Even his dragons had to get used to him being up at night, and they often accompany him out into the wilderness for nighttime trips to waste time. Now, while he may try to hide it, he has his moments of childishness. He loves food, especially sweets. He may seem like he rarely eats, with his thin frame, but he eats a lot. As much as he can, really. He always makes sure his dragons are fed first before indulging in whatever is left over, and there are times when he will only eat sweets for a meal if he can get his hands on them. He also loves the snow. Like, loves the snow. His parents rarely let him play outside in it when he was a child, and he uses the screw you guys, I can do whatever the hell I want 'cause I'm an adult reasoning to be able to play in it. history The birth of Sveinn is one of tragedy, or so he likes to think. He was born into a village that still feared the very dragons that many had come to adore. The dragons that surrounded their town were harder to tame than anywhere else, and the people were too stuck in the past to try and deal with them. His parents had wanted a strong baby boy, one who would turn into another warrior to fight off the dragon menaces. Instead, they were given Sveinn, a sickly young infant who, unlike everyone else in the village, was an albino. His father was furious, and his mother, despite trying to make it seem fine, was obviously not proud to have given birth to such a child. They already had three daughters, all of whom were treated as boys the moment they were born. They had to focus on training them up in order to achieve what they had originally wanted with Sveinn.Because he had been weak since birth, his parents tried to keep him away from dragons of all kinds. While he may not be the son they had always wanted, he was their son, nonetheless. They feared for his safety, thinking that he would be an easy target for any dragon he crossed paths with. So, they hid him away whenever the dragons were around. He was forced to stay inside during most days, and he was locked away in his room (which was in the cellar, of all places, since it was the "safest place in the house") whenever the village was on red alert and under a dragon attack. Not even his sisters felt pity for him, already much older and used to being "true vikings." So, Sveinn was kept alone, away from the rest of the world. His curiosity of the world outside, especially of these dragons that everyone considered to be beings from nightmares, soon got the better of him. When everyone was tucked away in their beds, sleeping deep into the night, Sveinn would sneak out. He trotted through the village, sneaked past the watchmen, and fled into the forests that surrounded the western border of his village. He searched long and hard for any sort of sign of a dragon, coming out each night for a year, completely unarmed, before he finally met a dragon. He was only about six at the time, a child who should definitely not be out and about at night, and he had stumbled across a dragon's nest. The mother was no where to be seen, probably out hunting, yet her baby dragons remained. The babies, which he later figured out were Scuttleclaws, seemed to be fearless of him. In fact, they were interested in him, and one brave infant climbed away from the others in order to investigate him. The rest soon followed. They were quick to befriend him, becoming his only friends. They played around for a good hour before the mother came back, and Sveinn fled the scene mere moments before he could have been seen. Throughout the next few years, he continued to sneak out at night in order to play with the young Scuttleclaws. He watched them grow, and he even went as far as to give them names. There was one point, however, where he grew too comfortable around the young Scuttleclaws. He lost track of time, and the mother came home before he could leave. She attacked him, knocking him to the ground and aiming to kill, only for the young Scuttleclaws to come to his rescue. He watched with fading consciousness as the young and their mother bickered back and forth before shouting could be heard coming from the village. The dragons fled the scene minutes before his parents found him, unconscious, on the ground. He was grounded "for the rest of his life," and banned from ever leaving the house again. This did not go over with the boy well, and he tried to run away countless times as soon as he had healed up enough. When he was old enough, he started pestering his parents to lift his ban and allow him to go to an academy meant to train people and their dragons, though he left out the dragon part. He just made it seem like it was some grand school that would make him stronger so that he wouldn't be so useless anymore. It took a while, but his parents finally allowed it. He packed his bags and set out at the age of sixteen, enrolling in the academy. On his first day, he was given a small dragon, a Terrible Terror, that he had named Rosa. The two quickly grew close, and he considered her to be his best friend throughout, well, his entire time at the academy. The school system itself was a completely new experience for the boy who had been locked inside his home throughout most of his life. He was awestruck by all the different dragons, though he was also uncomfortable by all the people. He tried to ignore the humans, however, and focused more on the dragons. Doing so was enough to get him through school. The years passed him by as he progressed through school. He was horribly reckless through many of the classes (then again, he kind of still is), and he had to be patched up on multiple occasions. The worst so far would have to be when he had been able to start training the "starter" of his house, the Monstrous Nightmare. This dragon absolutely hated him when they first met, and she made it clear the very first day. She had nearly killed him, biting at his throat. Had it not been for teachers nearby, he would have been killed. They subdued her, and Sveinn was rushed elsewhere so that his wounds could be treated. Somehow, despite the injury to his neck, he survived, and he was determined to tame the Nightmare. As soon as he was allowed out, he marched straight to her pen (in the middle of the night, mind you). Thus began the long road to training a dragon who did not want to be trained, tamed, or even touched by a human. It was through this dragon, which he started calling Mother Theresa somewhere along the line, that Sveinn started to grow more and more interested in training dragons. Sure, there were the methods of winning trust and whatnot, but it was through Mother Theresa that he learned that not every dragon could be trained through the soft tactics alone. The Monstrous Nightmare was fully trained mere weeks before he was ready to graduate. He had "tamed the savage beast," and she was more than willing to sit, stay, and roll over for him by the time he was through with her. Graduation came and went, and Sveinn was reluctant to return to his village. Regardless, he did so while riding on Mother Theresa. The villagers were terrified of both his dragons (even the Terrible Terror) and himself, and his welcoming parade wasn't so welcoming. He left not long afterwards, especially after overhearing some villages planning on frying up Rosa. Not long after leaving he returned to the school, taking up a job opportunity after one of the teachers had been, um... Had gone to a better place after one wrong move with a dragon. Teaching wasn't nearly as bad as he had originally thought it would be. He enjoyed tormenting the new students, and he enjoyed watching Mother Theresa snap at anyone who came too close. Progressing through the ranks was easy, especially when their jobs did not ensure their one hundred percent safety. He was only twenty-five when he was offered the role of Master Trainer, and he didn't bother thinking too much before accepting. Only a few months after that did he encounter a Scauldron who was proving to be too much trouble for the others who were trying to calm it down on its rampage. So, Sveinn stepped in, already knowing how to deal with dragons who didn't want to be dealt with. He brought the Scauldron's rage down to size quickly before heading back to the academy. The dragon, however, followed after him and never really wanted to leave his side afterwards. He gave in probably a little too quickly to having the Scauldron with him, giving it the name of Ludvig. However, the dragon was absolutely useless away from water. He allowed the dragon to continue living in the nearby oceans as long as the dragon would come to his call. dragons Rosa - Terrible Terror - ♀Mother Theresa - Monstrous Nightmare - ♀ Ludvig - Scauldron - ♂ general Sveinn is albino. That much is obvious. He tries to stay out of the sun as much as possible, and he tends to wear clothing that covers as much skin as possible no matter what weather it is. When he does have to go out into the sunlight, He isn't afraid to walk around with his smallest dragon, Rosa, on his head, with her wings spread out to provide some shade over at least his eyes.He constantly wears bandages around his neck, hiding a large scar that is primarily on the front of his neck, reaching to the back, from a dragon attack. It has healed, but the skin there is thin and fragile. Even the dullest claw might be able to break it back open, so he keeps the bandages there as some form of protection. Along with that scar, he has countless scars all over his body from his past (and present) with dragons. These scars, varying in sizes and shapes, have healed over better than the one on his neck and pose less of a threat. He is said to have a glare that could make even the most dangerous dragons kneel before him. This is just a stretched rumor started after he caused one of the dragons of one of his students to quickly submit to him just by glaring into its eyes. This dragon, of course, was on the weaker side of the dragon spectrum. Sveinn has an air of dominance around him that will make the dragons who are more submissive in personality "kneel before him," but those with more dominance or attitude take more than just a "glare." ⤷DOGS: BULLETS & CARNAGE ⤷HAINE RAMMSTEINER ⤷STROLFSON, SVEINN |
